This exercise will help you think about significant events, places and times in your life. For each significant event, place and time in your life answer the questions below. This will help you become more aware of your hockey mental game.
Exercise: Significant events, places, and times in your life
Identify significant events in your life and any patterns or connections
E.g.,
• When you first became interested in your sport
• When you experienced Ideal Performance States
• When you experienced catastrophic performances
• When you successfully overcame obstacles/barriers
• When you experienced personal growth events
Identify significant places in your life and any patterns or connections
E.g.,
• Places/locations you have been to and associated feelings
• Fictional places-places of your mind
• Places of power or comfort that caused emotional reaction
Identify the special times in your life
E.g.,
• A timeline of your athletic seasons
• Stages of general life development
• Ages/stages of your athletic life and competitive maturity
